Summary or Abstract: The full Menaion of the Orthodox Church comprises 12 volumes—one for each month of the liturgical year—and contains the specific texts used in each daily service. The General Menaion, however, is a broader version, offering structures for each type of commemoration, including services to apostles, prophets, martyrs, monastics, and more. For those unfamiliar with the Orthodox Church, this work serves as a valuable introduction to the structure of the liturgical year, the content of different services, and the history of many saints. The English translation by N. Orloff, used for the General Menaion, is based on the text of the Slavonic sixteenth edition printed in 1862.
